Description: This project entails full MEP/FP engineering services for two state-of-the-art science facilities on the campus of the City College of New York (CCNY).  The Advanced Science Research Center encompasses approximately 190,000 sf of research laboratories and support space for nationally prominent researchers in the areas of photonics, structural biology, biosensing/remote sensing, nanotechnology, and neuroscience. The second facility, known as CCNY, encompasses approximately 200,000 sf, and provides dedicated research laboratories (including a vivarium) and administrative areas for the College’s chemistry, biology, physics and earth & atmospheric science departments.  To maximize operational efficiencies, both facilities share the centrally located virarium, lecture rooms, and building support areas such as shipping and central storage.  The project uses 13.2kv service from ConEd which is then transformed into 480V distribution throughout the facility.  Mechanical equipment and lighting are provided with 277/480v service and each floor has step-down transformers to provide 120/208V power to the lab and office spaces.
